Ever wonder what the differences is between a diesel and gas engines? Well that’s a long list but one of the things that would be the same on any type of transmission vehicle – is brakes.
You will start being able to see some warning signs before your brakes need to be replaced. It is important to pay attention to these warning signs because we believe that one of the most important assets of your vehicle.
Unusual Noises
You know the guy that has pulled up next to you at the stop light whose breaks are squealing so loud you have to turn up the radio. This is a perfect example of a warning sign of your brakes needing to be replaced. So, if you start hearing a “womp womp womp” or the squeal of death – go get your brakes replaced.
Brake Warning Lights
On newer modeled vehicles there are a lot of new sensors and lights associated with these sensors. The great thing about these new sensors is that they are the early warning system to alert you if there is a slight malfunction long before anything happens to help you avoid being stuck on the side of the road with a broken-down car and suddenly your day got very expensive. So, if you have a newer model vehicle and your lights are turning on for your brake lights or (ABS) light turns on have it checked out by a mechanic to make sure that nothing is out of whack.
Pulling Directions
You can start telling that your vehicle needs new brakes when you are driving down the road and as you start to apply your brakes you can feel your car pulling in one direction or another – it is time to have those babies replaced. This happens when you have a leak in your brake fluid lines or your brakes are totally worn out.
Bad Pedals
If you feel like your brake pedal is a little “spongy” or you can tell that it takes a little extra leg muscles to hit the brakes this is a good indication that you should have your pedals looked at because you have air in your brake lines or you have low brake fluid. This is a fairly easy fix but it is one that you’ll need to take to the mechanic to have the brake lines looked at.
Car Vibrating
If, when you press on your brake pedal you feel your entire car shake or vibrates this is how you can tell that your brake rotors are warped and should be replaced. To ensure that you don’t come up to this issue once or twice a year when you get your oil changed you should have them check out your rotors too.
